Installation
Our "Custom Installation"
Limited Warranty
All manufacturers'
warranties, of course, are passed on to you, and we register your purchase with
the manufacturer. you have a standard limited one-year warranty
as further described in the Contract. We also realize that our customers
look to us for satisfaction in the event of product or installation
failure, and therefore it is our business practice to investigate
every case brought to our attention and to make a determination
as to whether there is a problem, the cause of such a problem,
the proposed remedy and the responsible party, if any, even if it
is beyond our standard one-year warranty period.
Expert On-Site Pre-Inspection
and Estimate
It is essential that
your job be started right in order to finish it right. As part of
our service, we send an experienced field estimator to perform an
on-site pre-installation inspection of your home or place of business
and to prepare a final estimate of your new floor covering.
It's best to set the
inspection for a time when you will be present. Our field
estimator will work with you to answer your questions and to help
you make good decisions about the finishing touches required to
complete your installation to your full satisfaction. Your
sales associate will explain in detail what the service entails.
Preparing For Your Installation – A
Checklist
Thank you for selecting
our company to provide your new floor covering. We are very
proud of everyone on our staff. Our installers are the finest
craftsmen available.
Working together
with you, we can deliver a timely and high quality installation
of your floor covering with minimum disruption to you and your family.
We hope that you will enjoy your purchase for years to come.
The installation
of floor covering in your home is a form of remodeling. It
can be as simple as laying down a new area rug or as major as tearing
up a floor all the way down to the floor joists. We do our
best to minimize the inconvenience to you, but some projects are
just nasty. So, be prepared.
Ask your sales associate
or field estimator to give you an idea of what to expect.
We sincerely want you to be content during the installation and
pleased afterwards.
After our installers
leave, please feel free to call us whenever you have a question
– regardless of how many years your floor covering has been down.
We hope you will look to us for your future floor covering needs
and send your friends for their floor covering needs to us as well.
Furniture
Because moving furniture,
equipment and appliances takes time, our installers are paid extra
if we are not specifically responsible for such work in the Contract
and we ask them to perform such services. Accordingly, you
will be charged for any additional time it takes our installers
to move your furniture, equipment and/or appliances. It is
best, therefore, for you to have the installation site clear in
advance of our installers arriving.
Closets
It is also a good
idea for you to remove shoes and other items from closet floors
leaving at least three feet up from the floor free of clothing,
so that the installers have room to work.
Knick Knacks
Antiques, heirlooms,
china, dishes, glassware, books, lamps, bed linens and other small
items on or in furniture, equipment and appliances should be removed
by you, even when we are responsible to remove and replace your
furniture, equipment and appliances.
Wall Art and Draperies
Our installers are
careful, but it is still best to protect your wall art and draperies
by covering or removing them until after the installation has been
completed.
Electronic Equipment
Even when you have
contracted with us to remove and replace such equipment as TV’s,
VCR’s, audio equipment, computers, etc., we are not responsible
for disconnecting, reconnecting or reprogramming, and therefore
this should be done by you before our installers arrive. Such
work is beyond the ordinary expertise of our installers. Their
work is limited to physically removing and replacing the equipment.
Specialty Furnishings
Waterbeds, bunk
beds, computer desks, modular shelving units, exercise equipment,
pool tables, pianos, etc., which require disassembly and/or professional
moving, are beyond the expertise of our installers. You will
need to make other arrangements prior to our installers arriving,
as these are specialty items that require specific expertise.
Plumbing
Water supply lines
for icemakers, as well as gas lines for ovens, ranges and clothes
dryers, also require professional tradesmen to reinstall.
Our installers will disconnect these items, but you will need to
make arrangements to have these items reconnected. We also
are not responsible for water leaks in old plumbing and plumbing
fixtures. Notwithstanding our usual good care, work on or
around old plumbing and plumbing fixtures frequently results in
leaks, and you will need to hire a plumber or other expert tradesman
to make the necessary repairs and upgrades.
Hidden Alarm System Wires
Nailing, stapling
or cutting may affect doorbell wires, TV coaxial cable, plumbing,
radiant floor heating, etc. Please let our installer know
the location of these items in advance so the installer can take
special precautions to work around them and you can avoid the inconvenience
of having to have them repaired.
Dirt, Dust and Debris
The installation
of many of today’s floor covering products will produce a fair amount
of dust in the air. Our installers use the finest “dust-less”
tools, and do their best to protect your home with visqueen plastic
sheeting, but inevitably, the finest small particles may settle
on your walls, in your cabinets, on your furniture, and in your
HVAC system.
You may wish to
take extra precautions to cover or protect your furnishings.
In some cases, you may find that a thorough house cleaning may be
required. Such cleaning is beyond the scope of our work.
Children and Pets
Our installers use
power tools, sharp knives and many “objects of fascination” for
children and pets. Please remember to keep children and pets
safely out of the way during the installation process.
Work Area Access
Please make sure
that our installers have safe and easy access to the installation
site. Please also identify for them the areas they can use
(back yards, laundry rooms, etc.) to perform their “dirty” work
and the sources for electricity and water.
